An established specialist in the field of audience development, with a strong reputation for effective and realistic plans and a supportive working style.
With over 20 years experience in the arts and cultural sector, I have built up a strong reputation for delivering practical and responsive consultancy to a wide range of organisations. Audience development and/or marketing planning is my speciality, either offering a start to finish service, or supporting organisations to deliver their plans in house. I trained in Consultancy and Change at Ashridge Business School, and am an CLP accredited coach. I use the approaches to inform my consultancy approach and to support organisations through the change that audience development often necessitates.
I am an Associate of The Audience Agency.
I also have hands on experience, ranging from project product while at sampad, Head of Marketing and Box Office at Theatre Royal Stratford East and the creation and delivery of The Big Picture, a large-scale arts engagement project which resulted in a world Record beating photo mosaic being built in the heart of Birmingham. I was project manager for A Night Less Ordinary, a national flagship project that encouraged theatre attendance for under26s.
I am well-known as a trainer, lecturer and a writer. Details on my publications can be found here.
I have worked in a variety of agency and consultancy roles since 2004, most recently as Area Director, Midlands for The Audience Agency, so am experienced at how audience development can be implemented across a arrange of organisations. I have experience of writing HLF Stage 2 audience development plans, marketing planning for capital projects and working with touring organisations, for example on using audience insight to create tour marketing materials.
